PS by Paul Smith
Every fashion designer always wants to share their best presentation
to public. The presentation that can present the collection, the designer character
or their inspiration for the whole collection.
I was in Florence for the Pitti Uomo earlier this year where
Paul Smith also launch his outdoor/ active wear called PS. The show was on
Pitti calendar, so I also received the invitation as well because I already
registered.
Now I tell you about the show. The show not like a common
fashion show in Jakarta that held at the five stars hotel ballroom and attend
with a lot of socialite and I don’t know who are they or what is the urgency of
them to see the show.
This PS by Paul Smith show was held at the warehouse (literally)
and people gather at the front gate before entering the venue. They let the
invitee enter the venue exactly on time. Inside, the decoration only a pop up displays
of the PS collections in one corner, six level of stage, some stagers for
lighting, wall of fame that made by neon lamp, video mapping on the wall, bar
and wooden bench. No seating arrangement, no red carpet and no curtain. The
room was covered by pink lighting.
Paul Smith himself already at his pop up display and explain
about the collection. The pop up displays was full of round mirror on the wall,
a chair and one standing hanger. There, Paul Smith, a world known fashion designer,
talking about the collection to journalists and answered every question
directly.
The collection was about the active wear, something you can
wear on your daily routine. Casual but bit formal. And the presentation itself
was using an art performance instead a real model. They jumping, running around
and cycling.
Who attend the event? Journalist, buyers, bloggers, PR agency and
maybe there is a couple of Paul Smith’s friends.
